32ND sunday in ordinary time (C)
FEAST OF THE DEDICATION OF LATERAN BASILICA

READINGS FOR THE FEAST OF THE DEDICATION OF LATERAN BASILICA (C)
First Reading - (Ezekiel 47:1-2, 8-9, 12) – In this reading, the prophet sees a stream of water coming from the Temple, bringing life to all wherever it flowed.
Responsorial Psalm – The waters of a river give joy to God’s city,
the holy place, the abode of the Most High.
Second Reading – (1 Corinthians 3:9-11, 16-17) – St. Paul tells us that the Christian community itself is the building constructed in God’s honour. Each of us is a living stone of it, with Christ as our foundation. God lives in his community.
Gospel – (John 2:13-22) – Jesus drives the merchants from the Temple and when challenged by his enemies, he says, “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.”

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL
INTROUCTION: Dear brothers and sisters, as we commemorate the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica, the Cathedral of the diocese of Rome and the Mother Church of all churches, we now pray to God the Father with renewed faith for all our needs, the needs of the Church and of all humankind.
The response is… Lord graciously hear us.
╬ We pray for Pope Leo, bishop of Rome: that he may draw strength and comfort from the affection and loyalty of his people in Rome, and from Catholics around the world. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.
╬ We pray for all those who have served the Church as priests or religious: that they may now worship God in the eternal liturgy of heaven. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.
╬ We pray on this Remembrance Sunday for all those who have died in war; for those known to us and for the countless numbers who are unknown: that they may rest in peace, and that their memory may inspire us always to work for peace in our day. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.
╬ We pray for all the sick of our families and our parish, those in hospital, in hospice or nursing home and those for whom we are asked to pray: that God may give them strength and fortitude, and bless those who care for them. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.
╬ We remember in our prayers all our near and dear departed ones whose names are, or will be, here on our Altar: that they may be granted eternal rest and peace in the loving presence of God, our Father. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.
╬ We pray for the souls of all those whose anniversaries, months mind and birthday remembrances we are asked to recall, as well as those who have recently died: that they may receive the reward of their faith and enjoy the happiness of heaven. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.
CONCLUSION: God our Father, in this holy place we worship you in spirit and in truth. Receive our praise. We make this prayer and all our prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen

PLEASE REMEMBER THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE
IN YOUR PRAYERS THIS WEEK
SICK – Sarah Agnes Quinn, Baby Archie Thomson, Alex McLeod, Allan Sharp, Ron Docherty, Rona McPhee, Rose Gallagher, Thérèse McKeand, Martin McGuire, David O’Hare & James Hannaway.
I also ask your prayers for the sick and housebound
– those at home in our parish community, those in hospital,
and those in local nursing and care homes in Cambuslang, Halfway
& Blantyre and elsewhere. Our prayers for them
not only help in their suffering and pain but also reassure them
that they are not forgotten by our community of faith.
Our prayers help relieve their feelings of isolation and loneliness.
To be remembered before the Altar of God
brings them comfort and consolation.
Almighty and Eternal God, you are the everlasting health
of those who believe in you.
Hear us for your sick servants
for whom we implore the aid of your tender mercy,
that being restored to bodily health,
they may give thanks to you in your Church.
Through Christ our Lord.
Our Lady, Help of the Sick, pray for them.

FEAST OF the DEDICATION OF LATERAN BASILICA
Today is the Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome. Each year every Cathedral around the world commemorates the day of its dedication. Given that the Lateran Basilica, and not the Vatican, is the Pope’s Cathedral in Rome, the feast is kept by the Roman Church throughout the world. The Basilica sits on the hill that bears the name of its former owners, the Lateran family, and is dedicated to John the Baptist and John the Evangelist. It was the first church opened for public worship after the Roman Empire converted to Christianity in the 4th century, so it is the oldest Church in the West, hence it is known as ‘The head and mother Church of the city and the world’.

TO NOVEMBER 2025

All are welcome, especially those who have lost a loved one or a friend in the recent past. We will remember the names of those whose funerals took place in the parish since November 2024, as well as of those family members and friends who died elsewhere.

WELCOME TO FR. JOE MCNULTY
We welcome back to our community Fr. Joe McNulty, who is no stranger to our parish. He will be with us from Wednesday 12th November until Thursday 27th November 2025 while I am away home to India. We thank Fr. McNulty in advance for his help during my time away. I hope he will enjoy his time with us.

MONTH OF THE HOLY SOULS
During the month of November it is traditional in the Church to pray for those who have gone before us and whose loss we feel. We do this in many ways but the most common is to remember them at Mass. If you would like your dead loved ones to be remembered at Mass during this month of the Holy Souls, then please complete a November list provided at the back of the church and return it to the box provided at the back of the Church.
“The remembrance of the dead, the care for graves and prayers of repose are a witness of the confident hope, rooted in the certainty that death is not the final word on the human fate, since man is destined to a life without limits which has its roots and its fulfilment in God.”
Please come to Mass more frequently during the month of November to pray for all the Faithful Departed. As we pray together for our deceased family members, relatives and friends, remembering also those who have no one to pray for them, we ask the Lord to continue to watch over and bless you, your family, and your friends.

second collection for church building
& maintenance fund
This will be the last weekend if you would like to contribute to our normal Church Building and Maintenance Fund Collection for the month of November. A box meant for the church building & maintenance fund collection is situated at the back of the church. Please be generous towards our second collection as this greatly helps pay for essentials such as continued maintenance and much needed repairs to our parish buildings and existing facilities.
The Church Building and Maintenance Fund Collection is dedicated to ensuring the structural integrity and safety of the church building. This includes things like roof repairs, heating system, electrical work, and other essential maintenance tasks. The usual weekly offertory collection helps us cover the day-to-day costs of running the church, such as utilities (electricity, heating, water), insurance, church services, general maintenance of church properties, administrative needs and various sundry expenses.
On the other hand the undertaking of any of the major repair works previously mentioned, when needed, plus other essential costs associated with the running of the parish, would not be possible without your additional help and support. Your parish church dedicated to St. Cadoc’s very much depends on your contributions and generosity.
Once again, I thank all those who, over the years, have attended this church of St. Cadoc’s and I appreciate the many contributions that have been and continue to be made to the parish, and I look forward to your ongoing assistance in the future.

CONFIRMATIONS
The Sacrament of Confirmation will be conferred on the upper-Primary young people from St. Cadoc’s Primary School by Bishop Joseph Toal on Tuesday 9th December 2025 at 7pm in St. Cadoc’s Parish Church. Please pray that our young people, strengthened by the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation, will be true witnesses of Christ to others. May they spread and defend the faith by word and deed.

WELLSPRING RENEWAL PROJECT
As part of this renewal project, children from St. Cadoc’s Primary School will be bringing the offering gifts in procession today at 10 am Sunday Mass (second Sunday of the month). I thank Mrs Faloon, the head teacher, and other staff members of St. Cadoc’s Primary School for taking this initiative and for her commitment to get pupils more involved in the life of the parish. Thank you also to the parents, guardians and carers for their presence at Mass and for bringing their children to our Sunday Mass on regular basis.

children’s liturgy
The Children’s Liturgy of the Word takes place at 10am Mass (except school holidays). I encourage parents, guardians & carers to bring their children to the church to participate in our children’s liturgy. Our young ones are the future of our parish. Their participation in parish activities, such as the children’s liturgy, is an important step in their faith formation. It is my humble and hearty request to parents, guardians & carers that you bring your children to a Sunday Mass on a regular basis.

NEW VESTMENTS FOR OUR PARISH
I am delighted to announce that our new sets of liturgical vestments have arrived from Rome. The cost of the two sets of vestments (8 altogether; colours: white, green, red & purple) was £950.18, plus UK Import tax which was £345.97. The combined total of payments was 1296.15. This purchase was made possible by the prayers and generous support of many parishioners (including £810.00 so far donated in envelopes, cheques and in some instances adding extra to the collection plate, which has helped defray the total cost). I thank you for your commitment to enriching our parish life and worship. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to our parish community. We are truly blessed by your faithfulness, which makes our mission possible. If you are interested to view the new vestments, you are welcome to see them by visiting the sacristy. They have been placed in the cupboard in the sacristy

CATHOLIC EDUCATION SUNDAY
Next weekend (15th/16th November 2025) we celebrate Catholic Education Sunday in our parish, a day when we pray for the continuing success of Catholic Schools in serving our own community and contributing to the well-being of the entire country. We remember with gratitude our ancestors who set up and supported our Catholic Schools with very little in the way of resources. The upkeep of the Church agencies which help promote and support (and sometimes defend) our schools is costly. The annual Special Collection to support the work of the Catholic Education Commission and the Scottish Catholic Education Service which helps to develop and support our excellent schools, will be taken up at all Masses on the weekends of 15th/16th November 2025 & 22nd/23rd November 2025. The collection provides the salaries for those employed and the services provided to support Catholic Education in our Primary and Secondary schools.

PARISH CHRISTMAS PARTY
Join us for a wonderful evening of festive cheer and fellowship at our Parish Christmas Party on Tuesday 2nd December 2025. The celebration will take place in church house (presbytery) from 6pm to 8pm. All parishioners and well-wishers of St. Cadoc’s Parish Community are warmly invited to the fellowship buffet. This will be a great opportunity to connect with fellow parishioners and well-wishers to celebrate the joy of the season. I look forward to celebrating the season with our parish family! There is no charge for the party, however, a donation would, if possible, be greatly appreciated. Raffle prizes (such as bottles of wine, spirits, chocolates, or any useful products you can donate) needed! It would be amazing if some of our wonderful parishioners and well-wishers could donate items to be used as raffle prizes.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO HELP WITH RISING ENERGY BILLS (GAS & ELECTRICITY)
As we head into winter, we face an expensive but essential bill for heating our church. Keeping warm over the winter months is vital for both the well-being of those attending the church, regardless of how full or not the pews may be, as well as the protection of the fabric of the building from both surface and interstitial condensation. Irrevocably this means high heating bills.
Since the aftermath of Covid-19, the cost of living, from buying groceries to heating our church and presbytery, has been on the rise sharply every day. Overall, our expenditures have increased faster than income. Our parish relies entirely on your contributions to pay our bills. I kindly appeal to your generosity to add an extra pound or two to your weekly contributions to help defray, in particular this winter, the high costs of energy bills.

DO YOU WANT TO JOIN THE GIFT-AID SCHEME
AND HELP THE PARISH
It’s so simple. If you are a tax payer, normally come to Church, and are prepared to put your money offering in a confidential numbered envelope (or pay by Standing order) and sign a simple form, then the parish can (at no cost to yourself) reclaim the tax you have already paid on that offering. For every pound you give, your parish will get back an additional 25 pence from the Inland Revenue. Thanks are extended to all those who have answered our appeal and have committed to gift-aid their offerings. Anyone wishing to join the scheme, please contact Jim Cunningham, our parish Gift Aid organiser or Fr. Cirilo. Alternatively, you can contribute to the Sunday Mass collections via a direct debit or standing order arrangement with your bank. Thank you once again for your enduring generosity and support.

NEW PARISHIONERS
We would ask those who are new to the parish, or who are moving house within the parish, to record their name, address and telephone number on the registration card provided in the porch of the church. I would greatly appreciate your involvement in the parish. If you have any spare time, talents, or skills to share, I rely on the kindness and support of parishioners like you to help us grow and serve our community better. It is also very helpful if those moving from the parish let us know, so that our statistics can be kept up to date. Please be assured that any data we have (including the parish survey I undertook in 2016) will be held in a secure way and will never be shared or given to anyone else.

parking in the streets
surrounding the church
Unfortunately, parishioners of St. Cadocs’ who drive to church are in a situation where there is no private parking within the church grounds. The streets surrounding the church therefore invariably become congested with parked cars especially at weekend Mass times. Whilst acknowledging the limitations of parking in relation to the church, I would ask those drivers attending services to consider the needs of local residents to have unimpeded access to their properties when choosing where to responsibly park. You can also use our car park which is situated behind the church. It can accommodate 6 cars. Thank you for your kindness and cooperation.

& women facing crisis pregnancies
