TRINITY SUNDAY (A)

READINGS FOR TRINITY SUNDAY (A)

First Reading – (Exodus 34: 4-6, 8-9) – God reveals himself to Moses on Mount Sinai as a God of tenderness and compassion. Moses begs God to accompany his stubborn people on their journey to the Promised Land.

Responsorial Psalm – To be praised and highly exalted for ever!

Second Reading – (2 Corinthians 13: 11-13) This is the conclusion of St. Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians. We sometimes use it as the greeting at the start of Mass.

Gospel Reading(John 3:16-18) This passage has a most consoling message. God the Father sent his Son into the world, not to condemn us, but to save us.

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

INTROUCTION: Dear brothers and sisters, having listened to the Word of God let us now call upon our Father who made us, the Son who redeemed us, and the Holy Spirit who renews us, as we bring our petitions.)

The response isLord graciously hear us.

We pray for our Pope, bishops, priests, deacons and all who minister in the church: that they may be guided by the Holy Spirit to boldly proclaim the Gospel and lead us with wisdom, grace, and compassion. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.

We pray for an end of aggression in the world, and particularly in the Holy Land, the Middle East and Ukraine: so that all peoples may be allowed to live in peace and harmony

Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.

We remember all those situations in our world where God’s love is not easy to see or know, places of suffering, cruelty, sickness and war: that the power of God’s love may become more vividly known through works of healing, peace-making and kindness. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.

We pray for each one of us here present: that the Holy Spirit may help us in our efforts to live like Christ, and so do the will of God the Father in our lives. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.

We pray for all the sick of our families and our parish, those in hospital, in hospice or nursing home and those for whom we are asked to pray: that God may be their strength and grant them health, and bless those who care for them. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.

We pray for the souls of all those whose anniversaries, months mind and birthday remembrances we are asked to recall, as well as those who have recently died: that they may receive the reward of their faith and enjoy the happiness of heaven. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.

CONCLUSION: God our Father, have mercy on us and hear our prayers. May the love which unites the persons of the Holy Trinity shape our lives and the lives of all people. We make this prayer and all our prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.

brings them comfort and consolation.

Almighty and Eternal God, you are the everlasting health

of those who believe in you.

Hear us for your sick servants

for whom we implore the aid of your tender mercy,

SOLEMNITY OF the MOST HOLY TRINITY

Today we honour the Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit – three persons, equal in majesty, undivided in splendour, yet one Lord, one God, ever to be adored in everlasting glory. Glory be to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.

CALENDAR

Monday is the memorial of St. Justin (+165) martyr of the Church of Rome. Two other Roman martyrs Saints Marcellinus and Peter (+304), both mentioned in the First Eucharistic Prayer, are honoured on Tuesday. St Charles Lwanga and his 21 Companions (+1886-1887) are remembered on Wednesday.  They were among a group of 100 Catholics and Protestants who were murdered in Uganda by the vicious King Mwanga. They were canonised by Paul VI in 1964 and are the first martyrs of Black Africa. The English-born apostle of Germany, St. Boniface (+754) is celebrated on Friday. On Saturday we are permitted to celebrate St Norbert, a 12th-century German who after experiencing a spiritual conversion founded an order (the Premonstratensians) and became a notable bishop.

MANY THANKS

Many thanks to Jim Cunningham, our parish Gift Aid organiser, for preparing the annual report to be sent to the Inland Revenue to make an annual claim on the Gift-Aid Scheme for the fiscal year 2025-2026. Thank you for his time, help and hard work. Many thanks to those who have answered our appeal.

We are still looking for new members. If you are a taxpayer, normally come to Church and are prepared to put your money offering in a confidential numbered envelope (or pay by Standing order) and sign a simple form, then the parish can (at no cost to yourself) reclaim the tax you have already paid on that offering. Anyone wishing to join the scheme, please contact Fr. Cirilo. Alternatively, you can contribute to the Sunday Mass collections via a direct debit or standing order arrangement with your bank. Thank you once again for your enduring generosity and support.

A big “thank you” to the Children’s Liturgy helpers (Elizabeth Gray, Marie Claire Faller, Anne-Frances McLaughlin, Bernadette Sheppard & Lucy Murdoch) for their valued support during the year. parking in the streets

surrounding the church

A core part of our mission is to be good neighbours, both to one another and to those who live around our church. A handful of our neighbours have reached out with concerns about their driveways being blocked by vehicles during our services and gatherings. Please be mindful of where you park to ensure you are not blocking access to our neighbours’ homes. Thank you for your kindness and cooperation.

an act of spiritual communion

 (St. Alphonsus Liguori)

(This is a simple and loving act of Spiritual Communion we are called to make in these times,

while we are unable to attend Mass and receive the Eucharist)

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace you as if you were already there

and unite myself wholly to you.
Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

prayer to st. michael

St. Michael the Archangel,

defend us in the day of battle.

Be our safeguard against the wickedness

and snares of the Devil.

May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,

and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Hosts,

by the power of God, cast into Hell Satan, and all the evil spirits

who prowl the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
