PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

INTROUCTION: Dear brothers and sisters, God’s Word is a seed planted in our midst. Confident that God the Father listens to the needs of his people, let us open our hearts in prayer, asking that our lives may become rich soil for the Gospel.)

The response isLord graciously hear us.

We pray for all who sow the seeds of faith: that God may grant them wisdom, courage, and zeal to proclaim the Gospel clearly, even in the face of indifference or opposition. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.

We pray for the environment and all who cultivate the earth: that their labour may be blessed with abundant harvests, and that we may all be good stewards of the gifts of the earth. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.

We pray for those facing hardship or anxiety: that the worries, struggles, and cares of this life may not choke out their faith, and that they may find comfort, hope, and strength in the Lord’s abiding presence. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.

We pray for ourselves: that we may open our ears to hear God’s voice and soften our hearts to be fertile soil where his Word can take root and bear abundant fruit. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.

We pray for all the sick of our families and our parish, those in hospital, in hospice or nursing home and those for whom we are asked to pray: that God may be their strength and grant them health, and bless those who care for them. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.

We pray for the souls of all those whose anniversaries, months mind and birthday remembrances we are asked to recall, as well as those who have recently died: that they may receive the reward of their faith and enjoy the happiness of heaven. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.

CONCLUSION: God our Father, you provide for the earth and all who live upon it. Listen to the prayers we make to you today, and help us to be rich soil in which your Word may take root and bear fruit. We make this prayer and all our prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.

SECOND COLLECTION FOR CHURCH BUILDING

& MAINTENANCE FUND

This will be the last weekend if you would like to contribute to our normal Church Building and Maintenance Fund Collection for the month of July.

A box meant for the church building & maintenance fund collection is situated at the back of the church. Please be generous towards our second collection as this greatly helps pay for essentials such as continued maintenance and much needed repairs to our parish buildings and existing facilities.

Our monthly Church Building and Maintenance Fund Collection, which is specifically for the upkeep and repair of the church buildings itself, has been experiencing quite a sharp decline over the last few months, well below the average of £700 a month. The Church Building and Maintenance Fund Collection is dedicated to ensuring the structural integrity and safety of the church building.

This includes things like roof repairs, heating system, electrical work, and other essential maintenance tasks. The usual weekly offertory collection helps us cover the day-to-day costs of running the church, such as utilities (electricity, heating, water), insurance, church services, general maintenance of church properties, administrative needs and various sundry expenses. On the other hand, the undertaking of any of the major repair works previously mentioned, when needed, plus other essential costs associated with the running of the parish, would not be possible without your additional help and support. Your parish church dedicated to St. Cadoc’s very much depends on your contributions and generosity. Once again, I thank all those who, over the years, have attended this church of St. Cadoc’s and I appreciate the many contributions that have been and continue to be made to the parish, and I look forward to your ongoing assistance in the future.

FRANCISCAN SISTERS MISSION APPEAL

Once a year Bishop Toal gives permission to a religious missionary order to appeal at all Masses for the work of their society/organisation.

Our appeal is next weekend (18th/19th July 2026) which will be made by the Franciscan Sisters. A box intended to help support the work of the Franciscan Missionaries Sisters will be situated at the back of the church for the next two weeks beginning next weekend (18th/19th July 2026 & 25th/26th July 2026).

The Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception is a religious congregation founded in the East End of Glasgow in 1847. Through regular deanery mission appeals held across Scotland, they raise vital funds to support their ongoing pastoral care, education, and social outreach work for poor and vulnerable communities globally.

We have a marvellous record in St. Cadoc’s in helping the spread of the Faith in mission lands and the missionaries, and we look forward to your continued generosity in our second collection at all Masses for the next two weeks beginning next weekend. Thank you in advance for your generosity and your prayers.

Thanks to Anne Moran for giving her time to prepare the readers rota. If you are able to be part of this important ministry, then please contact Mrs. Moran or Fr. Cirilo.

While our 10am Sunday Mass is well-covered, we urgently require volunteer readers for the Vigil Saturday Mass and 11.30am Sunday Mass. JOIN US FOR THE PARISH ANNUAL ‘THANK YOU’ PARTY

Please join us for our Annual ‘Thank You’ Party on Tuesday 18th August 2026. The celebration will take place in the church house (presbytery) from 6pm to 7.30pm. All parishioners and well-wishers of St. Cadoc’s Parish Community are warmly invited to the fellowship buffet. This invitation, will afford me the opportunity to say “Thank You” for supporting and contributing to the life of our parish. A great strength of our parish is that we all pull together to make the parish work. We all participate in every aspect of the church from attending Mass to providing a welcoming atmosphere at every service to cleaning up the grounds. There is no job that is too great for this parish family. Marvellous! I look forward to welcoming you on that day. There is no charge for the party, however, a donation would, if possible, be greatly appreciated. Raffle prizes (such as bottles of wine, spirits, chocolates, or any useful products you can donate) needed! It would be amazing if some of our wonderful parishioners and well-wishers could donate items to be used as raffle prizes.

CHURCHC CLEANING

Thank you to all our parish volunteers [Irene Savage, Rose Hewitt, Rita Kelly, Anne McCafferty, Bernadette Goodwin, Frances Goodwin, Jane Ngomo, Anne Lennon & Ann Paterson] who generously gave of their time to clean the Church yesterday (Saturday). It makes all the difference! We are very lucky in St. Cadoc’s that our church is cleaned every third Saturday. Many on coming to church comment on how clean, tidy and welcoming our church is, and that is testament to the wonderful cleaning team. We could do with more people willing to give of their time every three weeks to help with general cleaning of the church which takes place on a Saturday morning. If you would like to help with cleaning, please contact Anne Lennon, the parish co-ordinator, or Fr. Cirilo.

NEW PARISHIONERS

We would ask those who are new to the parish, or who are moving house within the parish, to record their name, address and telephone number on the registration card provided in the porch of the church. I would greatly appreciate your involvement in the parish. If you have any spare time, talents, or skills to share, I rely on the kindness and support of parishioners like you to help us grow and serve our community better. It is also very helpful if those moving from the parish let us know, so that our statistics can be kept up to date. Please be assured that any data we have (including the parish survey I undertook in 2016) will be held in a secure way and will never be shared or given to anyone else.

parking in the streets

surrounding the church

A core part of our mission is to be good neighbours, both to one another and to those who live around our church. A handful of our neighbours have reached out with concerns about their driveways being blocked by vehicles during our services and gatherings. Please be mindful of where you park to ensure you are not blocking access to our neighbours’ homes. Thank you for your kindness and cooperation.

an act of spiritual communion

 (St. Alphonsus Liguori)

(This is a simple and loving act of Spiritual Communion we are called to make in these times,

while we are unable to attend Mass and receive the Eucharist)

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace you as if you were already there

and unite myself wholly to you.
Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

prayer to st. michael

St. Michael the Archangel,

defend us in the day of battle.

Be our safeguard against the wickedness

and snares of the Devil.

May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,

and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Hosts,

by the power of God, cast into Hell Satan, and all the evil spirits

who prowl the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
