PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL
INTROUCTION: Dear brothers and sisters, God has extended a universal invitation to all peoples to partake in his heavenly banquet. Confident in his deep love and endless generosity, let us now bring before him our own needs and those of the Church and the world in humility.)
The response is… Lord graciously hear us.
╬ We pray for the Church leaders: that, through their daily guidance, they may show us how to step out of our comfortable routines and put on the true wedding garment of consistent prayer, kindness and honest service to others. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.
╬ We pray for world leaders: that, by wearing the true wedding garment of public service, they may work to create a world where no one is left hungry, forgotten, or excluded from society. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.
╬ We pray in this month of the Holy Rosary: that we may grow in faith, hope and love through deeper devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Holy Rosary. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.
╬ We pray for each of us gathered here today: that God may help us to clothe ourselves every day in the wedding garments of love, kindness and honest prayer. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.
╬ We pray for all the sick of our families and our parish, those in hospital, in hospice or nursing home and those for whom we are asked to pray: that God may give them strength and fortitude, and bless those who care for them. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.
╬ We pray for the souls of all those whose anniversaries, months mind and birthday remembrances we are asked to recall, as well as those who have recently died: that they may receive the reward of their faith and enjoy the happiness of heaven. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.
CONCLUSION: God our Father, your Son Jesus invites us to a banquet of good living. Help us to accept his invitation with all our hearts and to hunger always for a life of goodness and holiness. We make this prayer and all our prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.

IN YOUR PRAYERS THIS WEEK
SICK – Rosemary Leydon, Alex McLeod, Thérèse McKeand, Martin McGuire & James Hannaway.
I also ask your prayers for the sick and housebound
– those at home in our parish community, those in hospital,
and those in local nursing and care homes in Cambuslang, Halfway
& Blantyre and elsewhere. Our prayers for them
not only help in their suffering and pain but also reassure them
that they are not forgotten by our community of faith.
Our prayers help relieve their feelings of isolation and loneliness.
To be remembered before the Altar of God
brings them comfort and consolation.
Almighty and Eternal God, you are the everlasting health
of those who believe in you.
Hear us for your sick servants
for whom we implore the aid of your tender mercy,
that being restored to bodily health,
they may give thanks to you in your Church.
Through Christ our Lord.
Our Lady, Help of the Sick, pray for them.

OCTOBER DEVOTIONS
The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. According to an account by fifteenth-century Dominican, Alan de la Roch, Mary appeared to St. Dominic in 1206 after he had been praying and doing severe penances because of his lack of success in combating the Albigensian heresy. Mary praised him for his valiant fight against the heretics and then gave him the Rosary as a mighty weapon, explained its uses and efficacy, and told him to preach it to others. A plenary indulgence is granted when the rosary is recited in a church or oratory or when it is recited in a family, a religious community, or a pious association. A partial indulgence is granted for its recitation in all other circumstances.

calendar
Wednesday is the memorial of the 3rd Century Pope and martyr Callistus I (+222). He opened the first Christian cemetery in Rome, part of which can be visited today. On Thursday we remember St. Teresa of Avila (+1582), one of the greatest Spanish saints, who worked along with St. John of the Cross for the reform of her Carmelite Order, and whose books remain excellent guides in matters of prayer and spirituality. Friday is the memorial of two women saints: the noble Bavarian St. Hedwig, Duchess of Silesia (+1243), who entered the religious life upon her husband’s death; & St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, a sister of the Visitandine Order, who promoted devotions in honour of the Sacred Heart as a result of her mystical visions. Saturday is the memorial of St Ignatius Bishop of Antioch, a disciple of the apostles condemned to die in the Roman amphitheatre. On his journey in chains to Rome, he wrote letters to churches, which provide a picture of the 2nd Christian Church.

SECOND COLLECTION FOR CHURCH BUILDING
& MAINTENANCE FUND
This will be the last weekend if you would like to contribute to our normal Church Building and Maintenance Fund Collection for the month of October. A box meant for the church building & maintenance fund collection is situated at the back of the church. Please be generous towards our second collection as this greatly helps pay for essentials such as continued maintenance and much needed repairs to our parish buildings and existing facilities.

the WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE MISSIONS
Next Sunday (18th October 2026) is the World Day of Prayer and Giving for the Missions. You are asked to be earnest in your prayers that God’s word may reach the earth’s farthest corners and touch those who seem far from Christ, and to be generous in your contribution for the work of the Missions.
We have a marvellous track record in St. Cadoc’s of helping the spread of the Faith in mission lands and I look forward to your continued generosity in our second collection at all Masses next weekend. The amount gathered will go to support the Missions. A box intended to support the collection for the missions will be situated at the back of the church for the next two weeks beginning next weekend. Thank you for your continued kindness and support.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY
We began the Children’s Liturgy of the Word once again at 10am Sunday Mass (except during school holidays) from the beginning of September 2026. I encourage parents, guardians & carers to bring their children to the church to participate in our children’s liturgy on regular basis. Our young ones are the future of our parish. Their participation in parish activities, such as the children’s liturgy, is an important step in their faith formation. It is my humble and hearty request to parents, guardians & carers that you bring your children to a Sunday Mass on a regular basis. I hope to see a wonderful turnout for our children’s liturgy in the weeks ahead, and I thank our parents, guardians and carers for encouraging their children to join us.
The Children’s Liturgy of the Word will not take place for the next three weekends beginning today due to the October week holiday & Enrolment Masses. It will resume on Sunday 1st November 2026. We wish all of our children and families a safe, happy and restful holiday week!

Liturgy rota for Readers (October – December 2026) for 5pm (Saturday) &10am & 11.30am (Sunday) Masses is available in the sacristy. Please collect a copy before or after any of the Sunday Masses. Thanks to Mrs Anne Moran for giving her time to prepare the readers rota.
While our 10am Sunday Mass is well-covered, we urgently require volunteer readers for the Vigil Saturday 5pm Mass and 11.30am Sunday Mass.it is usually once a month. A BIG ‘THANK YOU’ TO OUR CHURCH CLEANERS
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated parish volunteers — Irene Savage, Rose Hewitt, Rita Kelly, Anne McCafferty, Bernadette Goodwin, Frances Goodwin, Jane Ngomo, Anne Lennon, Ann Paterson & Amaka Judith Okoyeh — who generously gave their time to clean the church last Saturday. It truly makes all the difference!
We are very lucky in St. Cadoc’s that our church is cleaned every third Saturday. Many on coming to church comment on how clean, tidy and welcoming our church is, and that is testament to the wonderful cleaning team. We could do with more people willing to give of their time every three weeks to help with general cleaning of the church which takes place on a Saturday morning. If you would like to help with cleaning, please contact Anne Lennon, the parish co-ordinator, or Fr. Cirilo.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO HELP
WITH RISING ENERGY BILLS (GAS & ELECTRICITY)
We are approaching to that of the year when our heating and electricity bills will begin to rise as we head into winter. I kindly appeal to your generosity to consider adding an extra pound or two to your weekly contributions to help the parish defray the high cost of our energy bills over the coming cold months. As a practical reminder to help us manage these expenses, please be mindful of closing the main church doors behind you to keep the heat in and the cold out. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has already increased their regular giving to help cover our rising energy bills.

CHURCH GROUNDS & GARDEN MAINTENANCE
A big thank you to Michael for cutting the grass last week. His hard work in keeping the church grounds looking neat and tidy is very much appreciated! Thank you also to Charles Clements for tidying the entrance area of the church and to William Mullen for cleaning the monobloc in front of the church and at the entrance area of the presbytery. We deeply appreciate their hard work in keeping our parish grounds looking neat and beautiful. In addition, thanks to all others who help in the garden and maintain church grounds during the year.

DO YOU WANT TO JOIN THE GIFT-AID SCHEME
AND HELP THE PARISH
It’s so simple. If you are a tax payer, normally come to Church, and are prepared to put your money offering in a confidential numbered envelope (or pay by Standing order) and sign a simple form, then the parish can (at no cost to yourself) reclaim the tax you have already paid on that offering. For every pound you give, your parish will get back an additional 25 pence from the Inland Revenue. Thanks are extended to all those who have answered our appeal and have committed to gift-aid their offerings. Anyone wishing to join the scheme, please contact Jim Cunningham, our parish Gift Aid organiser or Fr. Cirilo. Alternatively, you can contribute to the Sunday Mass collections via a direct debit or standing order arrangement with your bank. Thank you once again for your enduring generosity and support.

NEW PARISHIONERS
We would ask those who are new to the parish, or who are moving house within the parish, to record their name, address and telephone number on the registration card provided in the porch of the church. I would greatly appreciate your involvement in the parish. If you have any spare time, talents, or skills to share, I rely on the kindness and support of parishioners like you to help us grow and serve our community better. It is also very helpful if those moving from the parish let us know, so that our statistics can be kept up to date. Please be assured that any data we have (including the parish survey I undertook in 2016) will be held in a secure way and will never be shared or given to anyone else.

parking in the streets
surrounding the church
A core part of our mission is to be good neighbours, both to one another and to those who live around our church. A handful of our neighbours have reached out with concerns about their driveways being blocked by vehicles during our services and gatherings. Please be mindful of where you park to ensure you are not blocking access to our neighbours’ homes. Thank you for your kindness and cooperation.
