SOLEMNITY OF ALL SAINTS (A)
READINGS FOR THE SOLEMNITY OF ALL SAINTS (A)
First Reading – (Revelation 7:2-4, 9-14) – Here we have a vision of the victorious followers of Christ rejoicing in his presence in the heavenly kingdom. They come from every nation, and race, and tribe, and language.
Responsorial Psalm – Such are the people who seek your face, O Lord.
Second Reading – (1 John 3: 1-3) – St. John tells us that in heaven we shall see God as he is. However, if we want to attain to this vision we must try to live like Christ.
Gospel Reading – (Matthew 5:1-12a) – Here Jesus stresses the qualities he wishes to see in his disciples, qualities we see exemplified in the lives of the saints.

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL
INTROUCTION: Dear brothers and sisters, as we celebrate the feast of All Saints, Jesus invites us to walk the path of the Beatitudes. Inspired by the holy men and women who have gone before us, let us confidently bring God the Father our own needs and those of the Church and the world in humility.)
The response is… Lord graciously hear us.
╬ We pray for the Church: that all her members — whether married, consecrated, or single — may remain faithful to their call to holiness and courageously walk the path of the Beatitudes. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.
╬ We pray for the leaders of the world: that God may help them choose the path of humble service to the poor, the migrant, and the forgotten, rather than the pursuit of personal glory and popularity. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.
╬ We pray for all those across the world who are persecuted because they live by the values stated in the Beatitudes: that God may grant them courage, comfort them in their trials, and bless them with the strength to remain steadfast in faith. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.
╬ We pray for all the sick of our families and our parish, those in hospital, in hospice or nursing home and those for whom we are asked to pray: that God may give them strength and fortitude, and bless those who care for them. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us
╬ We pray for all our departed loved ones whose names are, or will be, on our November Lists: that God may welcome them into the peace of his eternal banquet. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us
╬ We pray for the souls of all those whose anniversaries, months mind and birthday remembrances we are asked to recall, as well as those who have recently died: that they may receive the reward of their faith and enjoy the happiness of heaven. Lord, hear us; Lord graciously hear us.
CONCLUSION: God our Father, receive the prayers of your Church as we celebrate the feast of All Saints today. Help us to imitate their lives of holiness on earth, so that we may one day join them in the unending joy of your kingdom. We make this prayer and all our prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.

PLEASE REMEMBER THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE
IN YOUR PRAYERS THIS WEEK
SICK – Alex McLeod, Thérèse McKeand, Martin McGuire & James Hannaway.
I also ask your prayers for the sick and housebound
– those at home in our parish community, those in hospital,
and those in local nursing and care homes in Cambuslang, Halfway
& Blantyre and elsewhere. Our prayers for them
not only help in their suffering and pain but also reassure them
that they are not forgotten by our community of faith.
Our prayers help relieve their feelings of isolation and loneliness.
To be remembered before the Altar of God
brings them comfort and consolation.
Almighty and Eternal God, you are the everlasting health
of those who believe in you.
Hear us for your sick servants
for whom we implore the aid of your tender mercy,
that being restored to bodily health,
they may give thanks to you in your Church.
Through Christ our Lord.
Our Lady, Help of the Sick, pray for them.

SOLEMNITY OF ALL SAINTS
Today (Sunday 1st November 2026) we join in the commemoration of the countless men, women and children of all times and places who are now with God in the New Jerusalem. This great feast honours not only the well-known saints canonized by the Church, but all the hidden, everyday witnesses of faith who have completed their earthly journey and now share in the eternal glory of heaven. Masses to celebrate the Feast of All Saints will be as follows: Vigil Mass at 5pm (Saturday, 31st October) & Masses at 10am & 11.30am (Sunday).

COMMEMORATION OF ALL THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED
(ALL SOULS’ DAY)
Tomorrow is the commemoration of All the Faithful Departed. On this solemn day, the Church turns her prayerful attention to all those who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith. While All Saints' Day celebrates those already in heavenly glory, All Souls' Day reminds us of our holy duty to pray for the purification of the souls in Purgatory. Through our prayers, sacrifices, and the offering of the Holy Mass, we assist our deceased loved ones, relatives, and parishioners on their final journey into the fullness of God's light and peace. Masses for the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed will be celebrated at 10am & 6pm.

SINCE NOVEMBER 2025 TO NOVEMBER 2026
Our annual Mass to remember all those who have passed away since November 2025 will be celebrated on Sunday 8th November 2026 at 10am. All are welcome, especially those who have lost a loved one in the recent past. During the Mass, we will remember by name all those whose funerals took place in the parish since November 2025. If a family member died elsewhere and you wish to have their name included in the reading, you are very welcome to do so. Please submit these names to the priest by Wednesday 4th November.

WESTBURN CEMETERY SERVICE
Our annual cemetery service will take place on Sunday 8th November 2026 at 1.30pm. CALENDAR
On Tuesday we remember St. Martin de Porres, the Dominican Lay brother who was Apostle to the Negro slaves in Peru. On Wednesday we recall St Charles Borromeo, Archbishop of Milan, who in the late 16th century re-evangelised that part of Italy according to the mind of the Counter-Reformation Council of Trent.

MONTH OF THE HOLY SOULS
During the month of November, it is a sacred tradition in the Church to pray for those who have gone before us and whose loss we feel. We do this in many ways but the most common is to remember them at Mass.
If you would like your dead loved ones to be remembered at Mass during the month of the Holy Souls, then please complete a November list provided with today’s bulletin and return it to the box provided at the back of the Church. “The remembrance of the dead, the care for graves and prayers of repose are a witness of the confident hope, rooted in the certainty that death is not the final word on the human fate, since man is destined to a life without limits which has its roots and its fulfilment in God.”
Please come to Mass more frequently during the month of November to pray for all the Faithful Departed. As we pray together for our deceased family members, relatives and friends, remembering also those who have no one to pray for them, we ask the Lord to continue to watch over and bless you, your family, and your friends.

SECOND COLLECTION FOR THE CHURCH BUILDING
& MAINTENANCE FUND this WEEKEND
This Sunday (1st November 2026), being the first Sunday of the month, the normal second collection will be taken up at all Masses to help support our Church Building and Maintenance Fund for the month of November.
A box intended for the Church Building & Maintenance Fund Collection will be situated at the back of the church for the next two weeks beginning this weekend. Please be generous towards our second collection as this greatly helps pay for essentials such as continued maintenance and much needed repairs to our parish buildings and existing facilities.
Our monthly Church Building and Maintenance Fund Collection, which is specifically for the upkeep and repair of the church buildings itself, has been experiencing quite a sharp decline over the last few months, well below the average of £700 a month. The Church Building and Maintenance Fund Collection is dedicated to ensuring the structural integrity and safety of the church building.
This includes things like roof repairs, heating system, electrical work, and other essential maintenance tasks. The usual weekly offertory collection helps us cover the day-to-day costs of running the church, such as utilities (electricity, heating, water), insurance, church services, general maintenance of church properties, administrative needs and various sundry expenses. On the other hand, the undertaking of any of the major repair works previously mentioned, when needed, plus other essential costs associated with the running of the parish, would not be possible without your additional help and support. Your parish church dedicated to St. Cadoc’s very much depends on your contributions and generosity. Once again, I thank all those who, over the years, have attended this church of St. Cadoc’s and I appreciate the many contributions that have been and continue to be made to the parish, and I look forward to your ongoing assistance in the future.

ANNUAL MASS CENSUS
Our annual Mass attendance will take place at all Masses this weekend (Saturday 31st October/Sunday 1st November 2026). I would like to thank all of you who, through your faithful presence week after week, so generously contribute to both the spiritual and material welfare of St Cadoc’s Parish.

SACRAMENTAL ENROLMENT MASS
Thank you to the parents, guardians and carers of our children from St. Cadoc’s and St. Charles’ Primary Schools for attending the Enrolment Mass last Sunday and for offering their children for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion & Confirmation. It was truly encouraging to see parents, guardians and carers taking such a wonderful interest in the spiritual lives of their children. Thank you for their time and commitment in matters of faith. My sincere thanks also go to the teachers and school staff, who do so much to assist me and to facilitate the faith formation of your children. Their dedication to helping our children grow up in a truly Christian way is, in itself, is a powerful witness to the Gospel.

LITURGY ROTA
Liturgy rota for Readers (October – December 2026) for 5pm (Saturday) & 10am & 11.30am (Sunday) Masses is available in the sacristy. Please collect a copy before or after any of the Sunday Masses. Thanks to Mrs Anne Moran for giving her time to prepare the readers rota.
While our 10am Sunday Mass is well-covered, we urgently require volunteer readers for the Vigil Saturday 5pm Mass and 11.30am Sunday Mass.it is usually once a month. Sharing the scriptures is a beautiful way to serve your parish family. If you can help us in the reading ministry, please let Anne Moran or Fr. Cirilo know before or after any of the weekend or weekday Masses.
I express my sincere gratitude to the new reader who has kindly agreed to assist at the 11.30am Sunday Mass. I also extend my sincere thanks to all our regular readers for their continued help and service at our various weekend Masses. Their dedication truly enriches our liturgy.

PARISH CHRISTMAS PARTY
Join us for a wonderful evening of festive cheer and fellowship at our Parish Christmas Party on Thursday 3rd December 2026. The celebration will take place in church house (presbytery) from 6pm to 7.30pm. All parishioners and well-wishers of St. Cadoc’s Parish Community are warmly invited to the fellowship buffet. This will be a great opportunity to connect with fellow parishioners and well-wishers to celebrate the joy of the season.
I look forward to celebrating the spirit of the season with our parish family! There is no charge for the party, however, a donation to help defray the total cost of this parish social event would, if possible, be greatly appreciated. Raffle prizes (such as bottles of wine, spirits, chocolates, or any useful products you can donate) needed! It would be amazing if some of our wonderful parishioners and well-wishers could donate items to be used as raffle prizes.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO HELP
WITH RISING ENERGY BILLS (GAS & ELECTRICITY)
We are approaching to that of the year when our heating and electricity bills will begin to rise as we head into winter. I kindly appeal to your generosity to consider adding an extra pound or two to your weekly contributions to help the parish defray the high cost of our energy bills over the coming cold months. As a practical reminder to help us manage these expenses, please be mindful of closing the main church doors behind you to keep the heat in and the cold out. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has already increased their regular giving to help cover our rising energy bills.

NEW PARISHIONERS
We would ask those who are new to the parish, or who are moving house within the parish, to record their name, address and telephone number on the registration card provided in the porch of the church. I would greatly appreciate your involvement in the parish. If you have any spare time, talents, or skills to share, I rely on the kindness and support of parishioners like you to help us grow and serve our community better. It is also very helpful if those moving from the parish let us know, so that our statistics can be kept up to date. Please be assured that any data we have (including the parish survey I undertook in 2016) will be held in a secure way and will never be shared or given to anyone else.

parking in the streets
surrounding the church
A core part of our mission is to be good neighbours, both to one another and to those who live around our church. A handful of our neighbours have reached out with concerns about their driveways being blocked by vehicles during our services and gatherings. Please be mindful of where you park to ensure you are not blocking access to our neighbours’ homes. Thank you for your kindness and cooperation.
